Amaalgam is a fused glass studio and workshop created by Komal C. Prasad, an award-winning and published artist based in Buffalo, New York. Amaalgam represents a fusion of ideas and materials that reflects the world we live in, brought to life through fused glass artistry.
Komal’s artistic vision focuses on large glass panels depicting landscapes and imagery in the style of a ‘painting.’ These panels are often installed as backsplashes for kitchens or powder rooms, and are also used as stand-alone wall art.
Komal also produces a variety of artistic pieces which can be sculptural or functional. Sculptural pieces include larger-than-life glass flowers for indoor and outdoor use, delicate coral arrangements, and ornamental bowls. The Amaalgam studio’s functional art includes a variety of mid-sized pieces appropriate for hostess and wedding gifts, such as bowls, vases, and trays in floral and aquatic themes. Additionally, there is a rotating selection of smaller items suitable for more casual gifting.
The nature of the Fused Glass process allows Komal to realize works of art that are both intricately delicate as well as robust enough for installations and use in a variety of settings.
The studio offers a limited selection of artwork available for sale here. If you like a piece featured in the Amaalgam gallery that is sold out, you may order it, but keep in mind that each artwork is one of a kind. The process of glass fusion is a creative one, and does not lend itself to exact replicas. Komal accepts custom commissions for unique artworks, and is happy to work with your vision.
